sculpey NO!

i'm taking a sewing class and making tote bags. i thought i'd make some pins and stuff to go with them. but, yuck! what a load of complaints i've got!

the smallest LTK i could make

firstly, making stuff out of sculpey sucks. everything sticks and melts, so gross. i'm never buying this stuff again. nextly, it's boring, like dirt. nextly after that, it's a lot of work for very little result. and finally, i'd rather be drawing comics. drawing comics is clean, fun and not like dirt.

now that i'm done complaining, here are the results. wakuwaku.

i heart turtle art!

oh wow! at wondercon i got some goodies.

a gift from my pal Paul, who'll be in the 1988 gallery show
along with TP and me this April
Paul, you are the bestest!

it's the first time i had a table at this show, and thien helped me survive it. there were also some good ops for him too. this year is going to be filled with excitement. lots of awesome projects on the horizon.

i heart the asian art crew

the Asian Art Museum is ramping up a very special exhibit Osamu Tezuka (creator of AstroBoy, Pheonix and many other awesome comics and animation). i will be a guest cartoonist in residence there for festival this June. if you haven't been to the AAM yet, go NOW. it is impressive. there is a crazy exhibit on japanese bamboo basket weaving that will blow your mind. it is in the heart of downtown san francisco, so don't dare say it's too hard to get to.

friday night we were at the Cartoon Art Museum's Worlds of Wonder show. i met Patrick and Karen McDonnell, yay! Mutts art is terrific. in the small press spotlight work by Debbie Huey of Bumperboy fame is being featured. Debbie is also terrific. if only i had remembered to bring my DS, we could have pictochatted it up at wondercon.

debbie's übercute wall art

the amazing Debbie Huey
i heart her too

Thien also surprised me with a blind box tachikoma. yay, again! i heart tachikoma.

this dude there in the picture is anthony, btw.
anthony is feeling the tachikoma love.
anthony drew me a dinasaur, he is pretty cool.

after a hard day's work, tachikoma shared a kettle martini avec moi. thien had a coke all to himself.

then it hung out patiently while i had the best roasted sand dab fillets ever.
