eames house

for my birthday i took a break from work and built a house out of a Mac box for eames. it's a test run, to see what what works and what doesn't. i tried to keep down the number of cuts to retain the integrity and strength of the box, but still make it an interesting shape.

my original plan for a circular opening didn't work - her bum got stuck while trying to eek on in, so i ended up cutting a teardrop shape which she fit through. she lost her flashpaws slot, but i made sure to put in a bunch of vents on the side; those seem to be her favorite so far.

i had a compound roof slope that made small openings for sticking toys through - eames can grab while she's sitting inside.

she loitered the whole time! when i adopted this cat
i thought i was getting a shy and low-maintenance pet. nope!
eames is way social and constantly wants to play

i slipped a fitted piece of black foamcore
(removed in this picture, off to the right)
on the floor of the 'house' to make it a little more comfy,
though cats are so furry i don't know if this really makes a difference.

well, this is pretty much it for now. i have to get back to work, so her real house is doing to have to wait. i think i will add a room to the open end and make the entire thing an L-shape, with more flashpaw slits, build the final using wood materials.
