i think that all museums are homes, and i'm a guest invited into these homes. it's a sentimental notion, maybe. there is an urgency to it though, so sentimental urgency let's say; like i really need to know that the home i have built for myself isn't the only one i'm welcome to. that there are other homes that i can kick my feet up in. that there is a place, and it's bigger and more awesome than my place (also awesome). whatever the case, i like it that they are bigger than me. they house worlds larger than my own. i can stretch in places like these.
i never ever thought that i'd ever be in one myself. not only am i in one this month, but in fact two. it's blowing my mind. it's like saying that i'm a guest and a host at the same time. that's just crazy. my worlds are converging upon each other! it sort of gives me goosebumps.

Hi Lark,
I've been enjoying your work for some time (I believe we met briefly at the Academy back in our school days), and thought I'd finally leave a comment on your blog, starting with a big congratulations on having your work in two new "homes".
I'd love to take up the same sentimental perspective on museums, but I still hear the voices of the security guards, at half hour til close in the British National Gallery, rattling,"Make your way out, please!" in my head. Aside from that, I know exactly what you mean.
I think I'll be planning a trip to the Asian Art Museum now. The Jeremy Fish show will be nearby, so that should be a fun day.
Cheers!
OMG! BIG CONGRATS! WOW!!!
wish i was there to see.
you BETTER NOT TAKE THIS POST DOWN, lark! it's sweet and true.
i love having you mere feet away from me. so comforting.
Lark, this is so exciting! I can't WAIT to see your show!! xoxo. sj.
Hi again Lark,
Sorry, my mistake about meeting previously! At any rate, thanks for visiting my blog as well. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
i took a little the best times are now card while you were at the asian art museum the other weekend.
now its in a little frame in my kitchen to remind me in case I forget while washing dishes or something.
i wish long-tailed kitty could go to heaven and say 'hi' my friend who died. i found out he was gone the day you were at the museum, remember?
long tailed kitty was just what i needed, which is surprising because cats make me sneeze just thinking about them.
your pal,
dr. ken
